HH Global co-signs letter urging the EU to set greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of at least 90% by 2040

Sustainability needs to drive meaningful change, and we are at the forefront. HH Global has recently joined CEOs, business leaders and investors from over 100 organizations, signing a call to action for the EU to set a greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of at least 90% by 2040.
In March, a new report by the European Environment Agency (EEA) underscored critical climate risks, with 2023 now marking the hottest year on record. On March 25, Environment and Climate Ministers will deliberate the EU’s 2040 climate target at the Council. As a result, over 100 businesses and investors operating in the EU have united to advocate for an ambitious target reflecting the climate crisis urgency – HH Global included.
This robust target, backed by a package of supporting policies grounded in science, will also ensure that we drive innovation and economic opportunities.
The letter establishes principles for the economic transformation that will be necessary to achieve the target – and for a climate neutral EU in the longer term. These principles include developing a comprehensive industrial strategy, guided by a ‘competitive sustainability’ approach, accelerating the clean energy transition and efficiency, phasing out fossil fuels, nature-positive investment and harnessing the decarbonization potential of the circular economy.
